Northwest Tech Men's Soccer announces schedule

Just as they did last season, the Northwest Kansas Technical College men's soccer program will feature two difficult exhibition matchups prior to opening the regular season.

The Mavericks will face Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC of the United Soccer League on August 13th in Colorado Springs. The Mavs will then head to Fort Hays State University to face a Tigers team who finished No. 14 last season in the NSCAA Division II poll. Fort Hays State also set a program record for wins (13) in a single season.

Third year head coach Danny Main is excited for the team to face stiff competition early in the season before beginning their first Jayhawk Conference campaign.

"We want to put the men into the fire early to test our capabilities," Main said. "With the competition we face week in and week out in the Jayhawk Conference, every game is going to have to be approached with a playoff mindset. There is not a lot of room for error."

The regular season will begin August 27th with a home contest against Laramie County Community College. Then Northwest Tech will host a men's and women's double-header on August 30th with Northeastern Junior College.

Players are to report to campus no later than July 31st with training camp beginning August 1st.
