Maverick Basketball with big win inside of Max Jones Field House

The Northwest Tech Mavericks men's basketball team defeated Lamar Community College JV 94-65 Wednesday night inside of Max Jones Field House, in one of their last four home games of the regular season. 

 

How it happened...

The Lopes of Lamar had the opening score of the game before the Mavericks would come back and score on the next possession. The Lopes went on a 3-0 run to extend the lead to 5-2 before nine lead changes leading up to the half where the Mavericks led 40-39. Tim Graham led all scorers at the half with 9 points and William Lybaek with 8.

 

On the first few possessions following the half both teams would have missed opportunities before Hense Todd of the Lopes, would knock down the triple. Tim Graham netted two points, followed by two scored by the Lopes. Eddie Reese would then come down the lane and slam it home, before the Lopes landed another triple. Both teams would continue to exchange buckets before, Graham netted two consecutive three points baskets to take a 55-46 lead at the 16:00 mark. 

 

The Mavericks would open it up 59-46 after another basket by Tim Graham at the 14:29 mark. The Mavericks continued their strong half with a 69-50 lead at the 8:20 mark in the second half. 

 

The Mavericks would then go on to defeat the Lopes 94-65 inside the Max Jones Field House, only allowing 24 points in the second half! For the Mavericks Tim Graham finished with a game high 24 points, William Lybaek 17, Osa Wilson 10, Eddie Reese 9, Aurimas Tverijonas 9, Kambrion Dickerson 8, Toby Van Ry 6, Ivan Simic 3, Lovro Kusec 3, Torreious Carwell 3, and DeVonte Chartier with 2.

 

The Mavericks will return Saturday, to face Laramie County CC at 4pm, with the women's game beginning at 2pm. Fill The MAX!
