Northwest Tech Falls to Cowley in Region VI Tournament

The Northwest Tech Men's Basketball had their season come to an end last Tuesday, falling to the No. 2 seed Cowley Tigers, 69-87, in the second round of the Region VI Tournament.

The first half was a competitive back-and-forth affair with explosive offense and tough defense. Keyishon Miller and Taiden Conner led the way in scoring, both finishing the half in double figures. The half would finish with Cowley up, 39-35.

The second half would be a different story, as Cowley's offense struck first, scoring back-to-back buckets with an explosive dunk, capitalizing off of Tech's turnover. The Mavs would quickly regroup; however, Cowley's fast-paced offense continued to wear on the Mavericks throughout the second half as the Tigers slowly pulled away, maintaining a steady 10 to 20-point lead throughout the remainder of the game. Looking at the stats, the Mavericks struggled to score against Cowley's defense, with Charles Fofanah, one of Tech's leading scorers, unable to hit any of his usual shots. There were three Mavs in double figures, with Keyishon Miller leading the way with a 21-point, 14-rebound double-double, Taiden Conner with 15 points, and Keither Florence scoring 16 points off the bench.

Season Recap:

Men's basketball had a historic season this year, finishing .500 on the season. However, it didn't start that way for the Mavs, as they started the season on a six-game losing streak in-conference before picking up their first conference win against Colby CC. The Mavericks' season took off from there as they went 11-5 to finish the regular season, ending out on a four-game winning streak.

"I thought we improved a lot as the season progressed," commented Head Coach Bradley. "I am very proud of the guys for overcoming all the adversity that they faced, and I am looking forward to continuing to build and improve more next year."
