Men's Basketball Win at Coffeyville

Men's Basketball Win at Coffeyville

Maverick Basketball prevailed over the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens on Wednesday evening, 90-86.

The game got off to a fast-paced, back-and-forth start with both teams playing tough defense. Coffeyville would get their offense going early, hitting their shots from beyond the arc. Tech would match Coffeyville with points of their own, capitalizing off of turnovers and quick buckets in transition. Northwest Tech and Coffeyville would exchange leads several times, with the first half ending with the Mavericks up by one, 37-36.

The second half would mirror the first, with Tech maintaining a close but steady lead for the most part. The Red Ravens would take the lead briefly a couple of times before the Mavs would surge ahead again. Northwest Tech would hold on to the lead after the six-minute mark, thanks in no small part to Taiden Conner's outside shooting. The Mavericks would seal the win after Emar Jones made a huge three-point shot with 13 seconds left, putting the Mavericks ahead by four. The Red Ravens would then drive down the floor and make a quick jump shot to make the score 88-86 before Keyishon Miller would put the game away, draining two clutch free throws with six seconds left.

Looking at the stats, the Mavericks did an excellent job of generating pressure on defense, generating 18 points off of turnovers. Keyishon Miller also had another big offensive game, recording a 36-point, 11-rebound double-double while making 13 of 14 free throws and recording 6 steals.

Northwest Tech's next matchup will be at home vs Barton Community College.
