Men's Basketball Lose to Garden City

Northwest Tech men's basketball fell to Garden City Community College by a score of 76-91.

It was a quick start for both teams, with each going back and forth in scoring. Then, around the 13:00 minute mark, Garden City went on a 6-0 run, putting them up 24-12, after which Tech went on their own run, scoring eight unanswered points, capitalizing off of steals and scoring in transition. Garden would then answer with two more scoring runs to end the half, as they began to force turnovers and take advantage of Tech's defense off of screens, getting easy points in the paint in addition to their good ball movement that opened up their outside shooting (46.2% at the half).

Both teams would pick up where they left off, with the Mavericks going on a 7-0 run around the 17:00 minute mark. Both teams would continue to go back and forth, with Garden maintaining a steady lead. By the last 10 minutes, Northwest Tech struggled to stop Garden City from scoring, allowing too many open shots, while Garden started to clamp down on defense. The one guy who kept the Mavs competitive in the second half and throughout the game was Keyishon Miller, making impressive plays and tough shots when Tech's offense began to stall. Miller was the leading scorer for the Mavs, with 17 points, while also recording 4 steals and 5 assists.

Northwest Tech will return to conference play on January 3rd at Dodge City Community College.
