Men's Basketball Win Against Cloud

Northwest Tech Men's Basketball won over the Cloud County T-Birds on Wednesday, 80-75, closing out the regular season on an impressive four-game winning streak.

The game got off to a quick start, with the Mavs scoring the first bucket in the first 10 seconds, after which both teams would quickly buckle down on defense, with the rest of the half being lower-scoring with tough defense from both teams. Cloud would maintain a narrow lead for the majority of the first half, with the score at 32-37 in favor of Cloud going into halftime.

The second half mirrored the first in many ways, with the Mavs gradually gaining momentum as they tied the game, then briefly took the lead near the halfway point of the second half before Cloud seized the lead again. Charles Fofanah would keep the momentum going as he continued to sink three-pointers throughout the second half. The Mavercks would finally catch up to the T-Birds in the final minutes after getting to the foul line, tying the game 71-71. Northwest Tech would then call a full timeout, after which Charles Fofanah made a clutch three-pointer, then Taiden Conner and Keyishon Miller sealed the victory for the Mavs at the free throw line, going six for six.

Looking at the stats, Charles Fofanah had an excellent game, scoring 29 points while shooting 70% (7-10) from beyond the arc, while Keyishon Miller scored 22 points with a 50% three-point percentage. Keither Florence also had a good game offensively, putting up tough shots at the rim and scoring 11 points.

The Mavericks will now host their first home playoff game against the Dodge City Conqs in the first round of the Region VI Tournament on Saturday. If the Mavs win, they will travel to Arkansas City to face the Cowley Tigers, who are the No. 2 seed in the tournament.
