Mavericks Fall to Cowley

Northwest Tech Men's Basketball fell to the Cowley Community College Tigers on Wednesday, 84-70.

In the first half, the game was competitive, with both teams exchanging leads. Cowley managed to establish a 10-point lead multiple times, but the Mavericks were able to consistently narrow the gap, keeping it within single digits. The Mavs would go into halftime with the score at 47-36.

The second half mirrored the first for the most part. However, Cowley would go on an 18-5 run early in the second half to extend their lead out to 20 points. The Mavericks would continue to compete, ultimately only able to bring the score to within 15 points, as Cowley's inside presence proved too much to overcome as they struggled to keep them off the boards.

Analyzing the stats, Tech struggled to defend the paint, allowing 15 second-chance points off of 16 offensive rebounds. On the positive side, the Mavs performed well beyond the arc, shooting 50%. Keyishon Miller led the team with a 23-point and 10-rebound double-double.

Men's Basketball will now travel to El Dorado, KS, where they will compete against the Butler Community College Grizzly Bears.
