The Northwest Tech Men's Soccer traveled to Arkansas City on Saturday, August 27th at Arkansas City High School. The match was an extremely physical contest that resulted in a 2-1 Cowley Tigers victory.

All of the scoring came in the first half, with the Tigers taking an early 2-0 lead after goals from freshman Hikaru Tanaka (1) and Santiago Giminez (2). After a slow start, the Mavs got a goal back in the 38th minute when freshman forward Davin Flynn finished with a first time strike after a superb cross from sophomore defender Josh McCarten.

"We started the game extremely poorly and didn?t play anywhere near what we are capable of. "said Head Coach Jordan Rideout said. "Fortunately enough, our subs came on and made an immediate impact."

The second half of the match was more physical than the first, and although the Mavs pushed on for the equalizer, the Tigers proved too much in the end. "Cowley had a good squad and played really well as a team," Rideout said.

The Mavs look to bounce back as they play at home against Northeastern Junior College on Thursday, August 30th.

"We didn't show our quality against Cowley so I am really looking forward to showing what we are capable of at home against Northeastern," Rideout concluded.
