Mavericks Compete at Kansas Relays

Northwest Tech's long-distance runners traveled to Lawerence, KS, last weekend, where they competed in the Kansas Relays hosted by Kansas University.

In the 1500-meter run, Sibonokuhle Thwala led the way for the Mavericks, placing 4th overall with a time of 4:03.08. Lucky Maila and Edgar Kosgei weren't far behind, placing 27th and 35th with times of 4:15.70 and 4:23.50, respectively. In the 5000-meter run, Kabelo Maja led the way, finishing 2nd with a new season best of 14.48.92. Ronin Rybnika also competed, placing 15th with a time of 15:34.75.

The Mavericks also had two 4x800m relays, with squad A placing 9th with a time of 8:01.20 and squad B placing 14th with a time of 8:38.78. Sibonokuhle Thwala, Kabelo Maja, Daniel Cornelissen, and Lucky Maila comprised squad A, and Edgar Kosgei, Denis Kibet, Tayler Kleinow, and Ronin Rybnika comprised squad B.

 

Track & Field's short-distance runners will compete at Texas Tech's Corky/Crofoot Shootout at the end of this week.
