Softball Drops Two Against #17 Butler

The Lady Mavericks continued conference play on Saturday against the Butler Community College Grizzlies.

In game one, the Grizzlies were able to score twenty-eight runs on twenty runs over five innings. Offensively, the Lady Mavs had five hits, two of which came from Ashlynn Miller, leading to two more RBIs for her this season. The only other RBI for the Lady Mavs came from Mariya Tecumseh, bringing her batting average to .298 on the season. In game two, the Lady Mavs came out strong defensively, with Cheylene Valdez-Asato keeping the Grizzlies scoreless for two innings and only giving up one run in the third. In the fourth inning, the Lady Mavs gave up five runs as the monsoon rolled in; however, they were able to bring one run across the plate thanks to a sac fly from Cheylene Valdez-Asato, who also picked up seven strikeouts in her five-inning appearance. Both teams were scoreless in the fifth inning, and the game was called due to weather conditions.

You can catch the Lady Mavs back in action on Monday, April 4th, in Goodland against Hutchinson CC.
