Lady Mavericks earn 12th Win of the season

The Northwest Tech women's basketball team collected 53 rebounds in route to a 91-72 victory against North Platte Community Collge Wednesday evening inside of McDonald-Belton gymnasium. The Lady Mavericks won their 12th game of the year. 

North Platte netted the first basket to give the Knights an early 2-0 lead before the Mavericks would score on the next two consecutive possessions. There were three lead changes beofre the Mavericks ended the first quarter with a 22-17 advantage. The Mavericks would add 19 in the second quarter to take a 41-33 lead at the half. The Knights came out in the 3rd quarter with a great fight but was outcored 26-24 in the 3rd and 24-15 in the 4th to give the Mavericks a 91-72 advantage. 

Freshman Tran Brown led all scorers finding the basket for 23 points and four rebounds. The Jacksonville, FL product converted eight of her sixteen attempts, and knocked down three 3PT attempts. A'nikeyawna Barber had a career night adding 20 points going seven out of eleven, grabbing five rebounds, and converting on five of six of her free throw's.

Juliet James pulled down a game high 16 rebounds and chipped in 11 points, while Dejoure Boland had a career night with 12 points and nine rebounds to help the Mavericks seal the deal. James earned her 21st double-double increasing the margin for the most in program history. Emerald Hart found the basket for eight points going three of four from the field and converted two out of two of her free throws.

Destiny Lindsey led the charge on the floor for the Mavericks finding the basket for two points before Sophomore Zoi Thompson would come in and score seven points while adding four assist. Sophomore Arion Jackson scored eight points on five attempts and collected five rebounds. N'mandria Reynolds, Carlie Epstein, and Kenyonna Boykin all played solid mintutes for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks will return home Saturday for only the second time the season to face the University of Colorado-Denver at 6pm MT inside of historic Max Jones Fieldhouse. Fill the MAX!
