Northwest Tech Hires Reshad Baker

Reshad Baker comes to Northwest Tech after spending the 2022-23 season as the Assistant Women's Basketball Coach at Chipola College. While at Chipola, the team defeated the number 1 and number 16 ranked opponents in the country in addition to getting a bid to compete in the Region VIII Tournament.

"Reshad brings both experience in building a program and working with and alongside successful coaches in his past," commented Athletic Director Rory Kling. "He will be able to recruit students to Northwest Tech and be able to land them at four-year colleges with his numerous connections. We are excited to see what he can do to continue our rise in the Jayhawk conference."

During the 2021-2022 season, Baker served as the Coordinator of Recruiting Operations for women's basketball at Morehead State University in Kentucky. At Morehead, Baker was reunited with head coach Cayla Petree after working for her in two previous stops at South Plains College in Texas and Gulf Coast State College in Panama City. 

Baker spent the 2021 season at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Mississippi. At EMCC, he helped guide the Lady Lions to an overall record of 12-5, including 10-4 in conference and a semi-final appearance in the NJCAA Division One, Region XXIII Tournament.

Previously, Baker served as owner and head coach of the New Orleans-based Lady Flames Elite AAU team for six years. Before beginning his journey with the Lady Flames, he served as the director of the Louisiana Lady Pumas Elite AAU team, led by Dee Brown, former Louisiana Tech standout. In 2015, the Lady Pumas claimed the AAU Division I National Championship that featured  WNBA player Kalani Brown.

During his eight-year period within the New Orleans AAU women's basketball scene, Baker was associated with four AAU state championship teams, including three undefeated clubs.

Baker, a native of New Orleans, completed his associate's degree in business administration from Delgado Community College in 2017 and earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from Southern University in 2019.
