Lady Mavs Fall to Seward County

Northwest Tech Women's Basketball fell to Seward County on Wednesday, 73-89. Despite leading through the first three quarters, the Mavericks couldn't maintain the advantage, ultimately succumbing to the Saints.

The Lady Mavericks got out to a hot start, going up 13-4 in the first three minutes. The game would continue to go back and forth during the first half, with Serena Lee leading the way for the Mavericks, scoring 34 total points. Tech would extend their lead out to fourteen points before ending the half 46-38.

The game remained competitive through most of the third quarter, but the Lady Mavericks struggled to score with their shots not hitting and many turnovers both ways. The numerous fouls called in favor of Seward, shooting more than twice the number of free throws than Tech, would cement the victory for the Lady Saints.

"We played a really tough road game, commented Coach Baker. "We have to continue to dig deeper so that we can finish games. Serena Lee did an amazing job for us, pouring in 34 points and 6 rebounds. Sy Cowley also did a great job being disruptive at the top of the press. I took a lot of positives from the game. It's no days off in this league so we are back in action this weekend, and I'm excited for another opportunity."

Northwest Tech's next games will be at home Saturday against Coffeyville Community College.
