Lady Mavs Fall to Dodge City

Women's basketball lost to the Dodge City CC Conqs Wednesday night, 66-98, in the first game back from Christmas break for the Lady Mavericks.

The Mavs got off to a slow start, as Dodge led the game 16-2 halfway into the first quarter, going on an 11-0 run. Tech would then finally get some offense going, finishing the quarter 17-25. The Lady Mavs would continue to go back and forth with Dodge City, with Sy Crowley and Serena Lee leading the way for the Mavs offense. Tech would come within four points before the Conqs went on a 12-5 run to finish the half, as the Lady Mavs struggled to contest Dodge's outside shots.

The second half started very much the same as the first, as the Conqs extended their lead and the Mavericks struggled to run a consistent offense. Dodge City would continue to add to their lead going into the fourth quarter as Tech's defense looked completely worn out with just three additional players on the bench. Serena Lee would be the only consistent offense for the Mavs with her outside shooting.

Overall, the key differences in the game can be seen when looking at the assist category, with Dodge accumulating almost three times the number of assists as Northwest Tech, showing the vast difference in the Conqs ball movement on offense. One notable performance was Serena Lee's 31 points while coming off of the bench.

Northwest Tech's next game will be on January 6th at Hutchinson Community College.
