Lady Mavs Lose at Home to Barton CC

Northwest Tech Women's Basketball faced another tough loss to the Barton Community College Cougars Saturday evening, 65-85.

Both teams got off to a relatively slow start, with Barton maintaining a marginal lead until about three minutes left in the first when the Lady Cougars went on a 12-6 run to end the half leading 15-23.

The second quarter would be a back-and-forth battle, with Northwest Tech keeping pace with their excellent three-point shooting. Barton would eventually inch ahead to take a 10-point lead at the half, 44-34.

Coming out of halftime, Northwest Tech's offense would stall as they scored only six points in the third quarter while shooting 0-7 from beyond the arc, allowing Barton to seize a 28-point lead at the end of the third.

Tech would bounce back in the fourth quarter as their shots started hitting again, eventually outscoring Barton's offense by eight points. However, the Lady Mavs would still fall 20 points short, most of which were given up in the third quarter.

Looking at the stats, Serena Lee had another high-scoring game, shooting 50% (6-12) from beyond the three-point line, totaling 26 points. Jalynn Alexander also played well, recording another double-double in addition to four blocks.

Women's basketball will return to competition at home on Wednesday against Garden City Community College.
