Women's Basketball Fall to Dodge City

Women's Basketball Fall to Dodge City

Northwest Tech Women's Basketball suffered their second defeat to the Dodge City Conquistadors on Sophomore Day, with a final score of 55-92.

Tech wasted no time, with Torrai Logan hitting a three-pointer from the top of the key 10 seconds into the game. The rest of the first quarter was marked by a back-and-forth exchange, with both teams moving the ball effectively on offense. In the second quarter, the momentum would shift in Dodge City's favor as the Lady Conqs went on a 16-0 scoring run. Despite the Lady Mavericks' efforts, they only managed to score six points compared to Dodge City's 21 points to end the half.

The Lady Mavs continued to struggle in the second half, as the Lady Conqs increased their lead over Northwest Tech, with the Lady Conqs outscoring the Lady Mavs 23-10 in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Lady Mavericks had their best quarter on offense, scoring 20 points. However, it would be overshadowed by Dodge City, as they also had their best quarter offensively, with their bench making significant contributions.

Looking at the stats, Dodge City had a noticeably higher rebound count with 50, compared to Tech's 33 while also demonstrating good ball movement with 21 assists. Additionally, the Lady Conqs had twice as many bench points with 43, to Tech's 20.

Looking ahead, the Lady Mavericks will aim to bounce back as they face Hutchinson Community College at home on Wednesday.
