Women's Basketball Fall to Seward

Northwest Tech Women's Basketball lost, 78-93, to the Seward County Saints at home on Saturday.
The Lady Mavs got out to a slow start, as they struggled to put any points up on the board with the score at 16-0 until Jalynn Alexander was finally able to end the drought with a three-pointer with about two and a half minutes left in the first quarter. The Mavericks ended the quarter with a short run with the score at 22-10.

In the second quarter, both teams would go back and forth, with the Mavericks pulling within 10 points before Seward County would go on a 12-0 scoring run, putting them ahead 42-20 with about a minute left. The Lady Mavericks would then score eight unanswered points, as they went into halftime down, 42-28.

The second half would be much more competitive, with Jalynn Alexander's 20-point, 16-rebound double-double and Alexzandria Thompson's 29 points leading the way for the Mavs' offense. However, the Lady Mavs would come up short, unable to overcome their first-quarter deficit.

Northwest Tech's next game will be on the road at Coffeyville Community College on Wednesday.
