Goodland youth utilize Northwest Tech wrestling room

The Goodland Wrestling Club had its first day of practice on December 1. Kids between the ages of 3 and 12 in the community are utilizing the wrestling room on Northwest Tech's campus for practicing purposes. Assistant wrestling coach Butch Smith will be their coach, and a couple of the college's wrestlers will attend each practice as well.

In years past, Goodland High School was where youth wrestling took place. The addition of the Dr. Guy E. Mills Athletic and Academic Center at Northwest Tech gave the college the ability to provide the facilities needed. Opened in February 2014, the Mills Center serves as the practice facilities for the men's wrestling team and holds classrooms for the campus Crime Scene Investigation program. It also holds locker rooms and an athletic training area complete with sauna.

Head wrestling coach Mike Sebaaly had only good things to say about the set-up. "Having the Goodland Wrestling Club meet at Northwest Tech is great. It's another way for the college to be a part of the community and for us to reach out to them."
