Wrestlers travel to Kearney tournament

The Northwest Tech Wrestling Team traveled to Kearney this weekend with 18 student athletes to participate in a tournament with over 30 other teams and close to 500 wrestlers.

Leading the way for the Mavericks was Levi Maes with a 4th place finish at 133. Levi lost his first match of the day and won 7 straight matches before battling a member of the Nebraska wrestling team to finish 7-2 on the day.

Jake Wilson 141, Dominique Evans 149, and Adam Tate, all had nice tournaments as well making the quarterfinals in a tournament larger In size than any tournament we've been to this season.

Victor Haro also had a victory of note solidly beating the #1 ranked kid in the region at his weight, Goodland native and Colby wrestler John Peden 10-2. Not only did the team defeat every Colby wrestler they came across this weekend they did so scoring a fall or bonus points every time.

The team will not be traveling or competing again until the week after Thanksgiving when it takes off to Iowa to wrestle nationally ranked Iowa Western and Iowa Lakes.
