Odgerel Batkhishig named NJCAA Wrestling All-American

Odgerel Batkhishig finished off arguably the greatest single season in Northwest Tech Wrestling history with his 3rd place finish at 285 this year to tie the highest place finish ever in program history (Cody Tow was also 3rd at 133 in 2013).

Odgi started off the NJCAA wrestling national tournament with two pins in the Friday morning session and a 16-8 major decision over Tom Halecki of Camden County in the quarterfinals on Friday Night.  On the Saturday morning, the semi-finals begun where Odgi saw defeat in a  heartbreaking 1-0 match to Mario Pena of NIAC to end his championship run.

When speaking with Head Coach Sebaaly on Odgi's national tournament run, he spoke highly of how Odgi came back from that loss: "The loss Saturday morning was a tough one. It's heartbreaking when you're so close to the dream of reaching the national finals. Odgi however handled that setback with the heart of a champion coming back to pin Stephen Boone of Iowa Western and winning in the 3rd place match against Lisiate "Richard" Anau 8-5, to avenge a loss he had taken earlier in the year. " Odgi had 20 pins, 1 technical fall, and 6 major decisions for a total of 27 bonus point victories out of his 44 wins this season.

Great job Odgerek!
