Lady Mavs draw 1-1 at CU-Denver

The Northwest Kansas Technical College Lady Mavericks earned their first result of the year against the University of Colorado-Denver, drawing 1-1 in an end-to-end battle.

Sophomore Jackie Rivas (Grand Island, Nebraska) netted the Lady Mavs first goal of the year with a left-footed rocket with the assist going to freshman Fernanda Garcia (Mexico City, Mexico).

Garcia and sophomore Sam Teller found the post a few other times in the early stages of the second half. The Lady Lynx of CU-Denver netted an equalizer in the 53rd minute and the game ended in a draw.

"I can't stress enough how impressed I am with this group and how far we've come in such a short period of time," Main said. "Our possession today was excellent and we generated several chances on goal."

Freshman N'Mandria Reynolds and Traneeshia Brown generated four total shots on goal but were just off of target.

The Lady Mavs move to 0-1-1 on the year. Next up is the first-ever Northwest Tech Jayhawk Conference athletic contest at Hesston College on Tuesday. The Lady Mavs will kickoff  at 4pm MT and the men will follow at 6pm MT in Hesston, Kansas.
