The Northwest Tech Women's Soccer team played to a hard fought 3-3 draw against a strong Cowley at Arkansas City High School on Thursday, August 27th.

Sophomore forward Adrijane Felix (1) continued last seasons great form when she scored her first goal of the season in the 7th minute of the game. Shortly after, freshman midfield Raewyn Murphy (1) scored directly from a free kick from about 25 yards out giving the Lady Mavs a 2-0 lead inside the first twenty minutes of the match.

Midway through the second half, Cowley CC freshman midfielder Paula Martinez tied the game after scoring two goals in two minutes. "After a phenomenal first half, we started to fatigue a little bit with the humidity and lack of depth," said Head Coach Jordan Rideout, "Martinez came on and was a difference maker for the Tigers."

After getting their second wind, the Lady Mavs pushed for their third goal when Adrijane Felix (2) scored her second goal of the match after slotting home a great through ball from sophomore midfielder Elsa Echarri. Shortly after, Martinez scored her third goal of the match to equalize 3-3.

The match went to two overtimes, but neither side was able to get the winner.

"I am unbelievably proud of our ladies, we gave everything and pushed on for the late winner," Rideout said. "We played some really good soccer and we walk away from the match with our heads held high. I learned a lot about our squad today and I am looking forward to seeing where this talented group of ladies are going to take us this season."

The Lady Mavs will host Hutchinson Community College at home on September 5th.
