Women's Basketball Beats Barton

The Northwest Tech Lady Maverick defeated the Barton County Cougars for the first time since joining the KJCCC. The Mavericks traveled to Great Bend last night after their original game scheduled with Coffeyville was postponed due to COVID issues.

The Mavericks were lead again by Sophomore guard Lauryn Vieira with 24 points and 3 assists on the night. Freshman Moniek Meeringa, came off the bench and added 11 points and 3 steals. As a team the Mavericks shot 40% from the field while also capitalizing off Barton's 18 turnovers, by scoring 20 points. After leading at halftime with a score of 35-25, the Cougars turned things around by outscoring the Mavericks 18-5 in the third quarter. The Mavericks made a late run of their own, as they finished with a 15-9 run to close out the game and seal the victory.

Next up for the Mavericks will be the Panthers of Neosho County Community College, as they return home to the Max Jones Field House Wednesday, February 17th at 5:30pm. This will be the first home game with fans of the 2020-2021 season.
