Men's Cross Country Compete at Ted Castaneda Classic

Colorado Springs, CO. – Northwest Tech returns from the Ted Castaneda XC Classic on Saturday, placing 3rd overall. CSU-Pueblo placed first at the meet (20 points), Colorado College placed 2nd (47 points), Northwest Tech placed 3rd (68 points), and Regis University (Colo.) placed 4th (108 points).

Placing 9th overall was Freshman Kabelo Maja, with a time of (26:17.8). Finishing in 12th place was Lucky Maila, with a time of (26:38.9).

Daniel Cornelissen finished next, placing 15th with a time of (26:58.7). Coming in 22nd was Ronin Rybnika with a time of (27:26.1). Rounding out the scoring for the Mavericks was Sibonokuhle Thwala, placing 27th with a time of (28:02.9).

Also competing in the race was Edgar Kosgei with a time of (21:43.8), Denis Kibet with a time of (32:56.4), Connor Purvis with a time of (36:08.7), and Teagon Reeves with a time of (38:00.0).

"I was happy with their performance," said Coach Sambu "I think we could have done better if all my guys were healthy. The altitude also affected them a lot in addition to the course difficulty. I saw a lot of improvement compared to our last race; I look forward to seeing how we'll look in two weeks."


Cross Country's next meet will be at the Firestarter Classic in Iola, KS, on October 14th.
