Keitavious Walter Named Head Track & Field Coach

Keitavious Walter has been promoted to Head Track & Field Coach after the departure of Evans Kiptoo. "We are impressed with the guidance and coaching that Coach Walters has provided this past season," commented Athletic Director Rory Kling. "We are excited for the continued success of the program as we run into the 2023-24 season."

Keitavious Walter is from Ruston, Louisiana. Walter graduated from Ruston High School in 2015, where he won the 100-meter dash and the 4x100-meter relay at the 2015 Louisiana Class 5A State Championships.

Keitavious attended Hinds Community College from 2015 through 2017, where he was a 2x NJCAA 60-Meter Dash Champion, 1x NJCAA 200-meter Dash Champion (Indoor & Outdoor), member of the Hinds 2017 NJCAA Outdoor Championship 4x100 relay (2016), school record holder in the 4x100 Meter relay (38.91 seconds), and holds the second-fastest time for the 100-meter dash (9.98 seconds).

After attending Hinds, Walter transferred to Alabama University, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Housing and Human Environments. While at Alabama, Walter was First Team All-SEC for the outdoor 200 meters (2018) and was a 200-meter All-American during the indoor season (2019).

During the 2021-22 school year, Walter was an Assistant Coach at Coffeyville Community College; During that time, he was named the NJCAA Indoor Region VI Assistant Coach of the Year. Also, while at Coffeyville, Walter coached the 200-meter indoor champion, Antonio Evens, who also holds the school record at 20.84 seconds. During the outdoor season, Coffeyville Track & Field placed 4th at the NJCAA Track and Field National Championships.

This is Keitavious' first year at Northwest Tech. Walter primarily coaches short sprints and relays.
