Track & Field Compete at FHSU Spring Invite
Northwest Tech Track and Field traveled to Hays, KS, to compete at the Fort Hays State Spring Invite last Friday.
Sprints & Field Events
In the 100m dash, the Mavs had five runners compete, with freshman Kendrick Jones leading the way, placing 2nd with a time of 10.55 seconds. Spring transfer Jerry Philippe wasn't far behind, placing 4th with a time of 10.63 seconds. Tyrik Edwards placed 19th with a time of 11.05 seconds, and sophomore Victor Karmee placed 26th with a time of 11.24 seconds. Also competing was Isaac Bisaso, placing 32nd overall. Jerry Philippe was the lone Maverick to compete in the 110m hurdles, placing 2nd with a time of 14.27 seconds. In the 200m dash, Tyrik Edwards led the way, placing 16th with a time of 22.43 seconds. Victor Karmee and Isaac Bisaso also competed, placing 31st and 33rd, respectively. In the 400m dash, Jarbirey Carter competed, finishing 16th with a time of 58.94 seconds.
Long & Middle Distance
In the 800m run, the Mavericks had three runners compete, with Daniel Cornelissen leading the way in 19th with a time of 2:07.80. Also competing were Tayler Kleinow and Connor Purvis, finishing 23rd and 24th with times of 2:17.17 and 2:35.45. In the 1500m run, Sibonokuhle Thwala led the way, placing 18th with a time of 4:17.50. Edgar Kosgei placed 26th with a time of 4:24.51, and Ronin Rybnika placed 31st with a time of 4:31.57. In the 5000m, Tech had all three runners place in the top ten, with Kabelo Maja leading the way in 3rd with a time of 15:20.10, Lucky Maila placed 5th with a time of 16:40.25, and Denis Kibet placed 6th with a time of 17:23.51.
Northwest Tech's next meet will be the following Thursday, April 4th, through Saturday, April 6th, at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi, hosted by West Texas A&M University.
