
Tigers Compete at Greeno/Dirksen Invitational
Lincoln, Neb. – Fort Hays Tech NW Cross Country placed 7th (209 points) at the 2024 Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invitational on Saturday, with two runners in the top eleven.
"I was satisfied with our results," said Head Coach Stephen Sambu. "Sibo and Kabelo did really well, and I was happy with everyone's performance overall. Unfortunately, Ronin had to drop out of the race because of injury. On the women's side of competition, Celestine is improving a lot. Hopefully, we will be able to get everyone healthy and ready to compete before regionals."

Kabelo Maja led the way for the Tigers, placing 7th with a time of 25:07.4. Sibonokuhle Thwala finished next in 11th with a time of 25:33.4.
Lucky Maila finished 38th, with a time of 26:29.4. Finishing 73rd was freshman Salisu Habibu, with a time of 27:14.2; and rounding out the scoring for Tech was Daniel Cornelissen, finishing 140th, with a time of 28:33.9.
Women's Results (5k)
For the Lady Tigers, Celestine Kiborus finished 77th, with a time of 20:41.5, and Brynne Purvis finished 171st, with a time of 28:08.6.
Cross Country's next meet will be on Saturday, October 5th, at the Ted Costaneda Classic in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
