The Northwest Kansas Technical College Lady Mavericks offense exploded for eight goals in an 8-3 win against Pratt Community College on Tuesday.
Sophomore Samantha Teller scored six goals in the match, four in the first half in the 4th, 10th, 15th, and 34th minute. Teller added two more goals in the 52nd and 79th minute, and freshman Elizabeth Richter tallied her first collegiate goals in the 62nd and 72nd minute.
Freshman Fernanda Garcia assisted on three of the goals, including two assists in the first half. Sophomore Jackie Rivas also had two assists, and freshmen Courtney Raab and Emerald Hart earned their first assists of the season.
"We did an excellent job of serving dangerous balls behind their defense," head coach Danny Main said. "Sam and Elizabeth did a great job converting on scoring opportunities set up by our hard work defensively. We showed a lot of heart today."
Freshman goalkeeper N'Mandria Reynolds earned her first collegiate win saving nine Pratt shots. Main also said sophomore Elysia Ramos and freshman Daz'ah Richards anchored a strong Lady Mavs defensive effort.
The Lady Mavs (1-7-1) continue Jayhawk Conference play on Saturday against Barton Community College. Kickoff is set for 1pm MT in Goodland.
